I was on a cruise to the Caribbean. All of a sudden everyone on the ship hear the warning signal going off. Then, we started to see water coming into the ship. Eventually, we were all in the sea, shipwrecked. We all got separated while the ship was falling apart so i was alone. I found a raft to grab on to to get to safety.

All of a sudden, i saw something floating in the water. It was a bit of a distance away from me and it was on the small side, but i could still see it. I tried to get closer to it so that i could grab it. It was very difficult because the waves were so rough from the shipwreck.

As i got closer to this object, I began to see it clearer. It started to look like a compass floating toward me. I tried to grab it without falling off the raft. It was hard to grab because it was slippery because of the water.

When I finally was able to grab it, it looked really nice. It had a dark blue background with some white clouds on it. There were yellow letters on it: N for North, S for south, W for west, and E for east. the arrow in the middle was gold and at the moment was pointing east.

In an instant, there was a huge flash and i was somewhere else. I was no longer in the water, but i was on an island. This island had lots of people on it. Not only one type of people, but all types of people. It was like America on a small island. I felt like i was at home there. Everyone made mee feel right at home. Eventually I decided that i wanted to stay there and live there. It was such a nice place and fun, too.

Finally, I was woken up by my mother. I realized that I was still on the cruise ship. In a way, i was sad because I had wanted to stay on that island. On the other hand, I was happy to be safe and back on the cruise ship, though.

Tests needed for your admission to colleges are the SAT and the ACT. They are standardized tests that admission offices use to see what level of knowledge you are at and what you learned in high school.  These tests can be scary if you think about it. Your future depends on these tests. The college you go to depends on these tests. Most people have to take at least one of these tests.

The SAT has a fee to take it. It costs $45.00 to take. It consists of  Critical reading, Math, and Writing sections. This test is taken by most highschool students.

The ACT consists of Math, Reading, Science, and Writing sections. The writing section is optional. This test costs a $30.00 fee to take. Students in highschool also take this test.

Some highschools are trying to make these tests optional. This is not good because this test enables colleges to see what kind of a test taker you are and makes it easier for them to see what kind of knowledge you have in the sections that they give you on the test.

Preparing for these tests is not as hard as it may seem. You need to study for these test a bunch. Aside from studying, you also need a proper amount of sleep before the test. Being free of stress of any kind can also be helpful. =)

 I agree with this statement because its true. Sometimes, people only do the wrong thing so that they can fit in with the crowd. That’s not right. People shouldn’t have to do the wrong thing to fit in. Also, people need to realize that when you go against the crowd is when you’re building character. Building character is good because it instills confidence in you and gives you self respect. This could give you the courage to stand up for yourself or someone else. Also, if you have self respect and confidence, people might not want to pick on you because its not so easy to pick on you.

There is soon to be an H1N1 vaccine arriving in the United States. This will be available to everyone that wants it. There has been no signs of side effects due to this vaccine. This vaccine will be available in the form of a nasal spray first and then shot. CNN says that “The nasal spray will most likely be the first to be widely distributed, however certain groups, including pregnant women, young children and people with compromised immune systems, cannot receive the nasal spray.” This is good because this could help to slow or stop the spread of the swine flu.

1. Can you do these stretches sitting down or standing up?…..Yes, you can do these stretches sitting down or standing up.
   
2. What posture should you always begin at?…..You should always begin at neutral beginning posture.
   
3. Why is breathing helpful?…..It is helpful because it helps relax you as you stretch.
   
4. Choose three of these stretches as your favorite.  Why did you select them…..My 3 favorite stretches are shoulder rolls, reach back, and head rotation.  I chose shoulder rolls because i always have bad neck pain. I chose reach back because it opens up your shoulder muscles. I chose head rotation because i do it all the time when my neck gets stiff.
   

1. List 10 new facts that you did not know before……1.) Your work environment can effect the way you type. 2.) you can get a CTD because of the way you type. 3.) When you use good posture, you use gravity to hold you together. 4.) Wrists should not be bent when you type. 5.) your feet should not dangle when you’re typing. 6.) you should not talk on the phone or hold the telephone with your shoulder while typing because it will cause problems as well. 7.) you should sit at a comfortable distance from the keyboard. 8.) Elbows should be bent at a 90 degree angle when typing. 9.) keep hands on home keys at all times.   10.) Always use good posture.
   
2. What is CTD?…..CTD is cumulative trauma disorder.It is a nerve compression problem.
   
3. Why do CTD’s occur?…..They occur because of bad posture and long term typing and genetics because of work style and environments.
   
4. What is Ergonomics…… It is the science that deals with people, their environments, and the way they work in their environments.

I came to St. Mary High School because I went to the grammar school and I have been here since the 4th grade. The grammar school is so much different than the high school, though. The high school is better because you have more freedom in the high school than in the grammar school. I like St. Mary’s because it is a small school and everybody knows who mostly everybody is.

School spirit is important because when you have school spirit you learn to appreciate your school and realize just how important it is. When you represent school spirit outside of school, people see what school you go to and if they like your attitude, they tend to think that all people at your school act that way, and then they think highly of your school.You also need to appreciate your school and know how important it is because if you don’t care about your school you don’t try your best and give it your all in your school work. Your school work is very important because how much you learn in school and your grades in high school determine your college and your college determines your future.

I googled how bad posture is bad for you and found the website, “buzzle.com/articles/the-consequences-of-bad-posture.html.  On this website I found these five points that reinforce Mrs. Fagan’s lesson today. These five points are:

1.) Some of the consequesces of bad posture are increased injury risk, increased bone problems, decreased height growth, increased appearance of body fat, and decreased exercise and sport performance.

2.)  Bones have excess stress from the body placed upon them when you have bad posture

3.) When you sit in a hunched over position, the muscles in the back can actually shorten so they are almost permanently locked in this position.

4.) If you do sports or other activities, having bad posture means if you are hit or twist yourself into a funny position, there is a very good chance that your body is going to suffer from some type of muscle strain or pull.

5.) Making yourself aware if you’re using bad posture is a must.

    Police found bones on the property where kidnapping suspects had lived for 18 years. their names were Phillip and Nancy Garrido. They had lived with a woman named Jaycee Dugard and her 2 daughters. There were also bones found on the property next to that house.This was taking place near Antioch, California. They were in Contra Costa County. This is located east of San Francisco. Police say that they found these bones this past Wednesday. I think that the Garridos killed these people because they were fond on their property. This would be  good reason to believe that they were the killers. This reminds me of the show Bones. In this show, they find somebody’s bones somewhere and they try to figure out who the killer is. Its kind of like CSI. This article looses my attention when they talk about where the family lives. I dont really need to know exactly where they live to know the information about the case. If i could pick a better ending it would be if they actually did it or not. I would like this to be the ending because it is something that I would like to know. The most important message in this story is dont be in the wrong place at the wrong time. They didnt really make a decision as to whether or not these people actually did it or not, but I believe they didd.

My favorite childhood memory is when i used to go to Beaufort, South Carolina to see my grandparents. My best friend used to live two houses away from them. We used to go to each other’s houses and we also used to go to the park. This park was right next to the water. You could see the bridge that we had to go over to get into town and off of the island.
